Rendez-vous aux Jardins - 30 / 31 May, 1 June 2008 : "Travelling Plants" The trial gardens of the Château d'Yville were open for the annual Rendez-vous aux Jardins event (organised by the Ministry for culture and Communication) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (30 / 31 May and 1 June 2008). The theme for the event in 2008 was 'Travelling Plants'. At Yville, we have an extensive collection of Holly and other plants (Roses, Box, Lilac) in the vast 18th-Century grounds of the Château, set between the meadows on the banks of the Seine and the forests of the chalk escarpment.

Welcome
With its magnificent park and gardens, the 18th-century Château d'Yville and its domain are privately owned, and usually closed to the public. Initially listed as a historic building in 1931, the park and château were officially classified as a "Monument Historique classé" by the French authorities in 2003. It is usually only possible to visit us through our web site (e.g. tour1) and/or to see our history and architecture. You can wander through the grounds (tour2), and see our holly collection and gardens (tour), as well as some of the architectural details close-up. In the near future you will be able to see the interior of the château, a special childrens' section, and information on natural history of the site.
On 30 & 31 May and 1 June 2008 the Château d'Yville opened the trial gardens and the Holly collection for this annual event sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture >>> click here for more information about travelling plants at Yville
On
9-sept-2007, we hosted the annual outdoor activities day (Journée
de la Randonnée) of the Parc
Naturel Régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande. Based in the
grounds of the Château, the many activities included canoeing, horse-riding,
roller-skating, cycling, and walking.
Photos of some interior and exterior architectural detail were added to this web site.
In June 2006 we
opened for the "Rendez-vous
au jardin", an annual national event organised by the French Ministère
de la Culture et de la Communication. The 2006 event was dedicated to perfumes.
We welcomed around 500 visitors to the grounds and the rose-garden. In July 2006 we hosted a Vintage Car rally.
In summer 2004 we celebrated the Centenary of Rolls-Royce at the château, with the French section of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club (RREC).
For the Armada - the tall ships' gathering in Rouen - we decorated the meadow with the Brasilian flag, in anticipation of the coming of the Cisne Branco to Rouen. The ship's visit had to be cancelled, but we were proud to have the world's largest Brasilian flag.

journée de la randonnée - the annual "outdoor
activities day" - organised by the Parc Naturel des Boucles de la Seine Normande.
Nearly 2000 people attended the event.
